What information the app collects

DARCANA is designed to hold as little information as possible. There is no account system and no server — the app runs entirely on your device. The only information it handles is:

• Display preferences — settings such as whether a peek indicator is always visible and its display size. Stored only on your device.
• Bluetooth connection data — the app connects directly to your own Rubik's cube and companion display devices over Bluetooth Low Energy to read and send data between them. This data passes directly between your phone and your own devices — it is never sent to us or stored on any server.

What the app does not collect

We explicitly do not collect or use:

• No accounts or login — the app does not ask you to register, sign in, or create a profile
• No email address or contact details — the app never asks for these
• No analytics or tracking — no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar tools
• No behavioural tracking — no tracking of taps, screens visited, or feature usage
• No advertising or marketing — no ad networks, marketing pixels, or promotional emails
• No names, age, or demographic data
• No payment data — the app has no in-app purchases or payment processing
• No device identifiers — no advertising IDs or hardware identifiers are collected
• No biometric data
• No cloud storage or backups — nothing the app stores ever leaves your device

App permissions

DARCANA requests the following permission:

On iOS and Android, you can review or revoke this permission at any time in your device's system settings. Without it, the app cannot connect to any devices, but it will otherwise still open and run.

Local storage

The app stores a small number of display preferences directly on your device, using standard on-device storage. This data:

• Never leaves your device or gets transmitted to us
• Is not backed up to any cloud service by the app itself
• Is removed automatically if you uninstall the app

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any information, because the app does not collect anything beyond the on-device preferences described above. There are no third-party service providers, analytics platforms, or advertising partners integrated into the app.

Children's privacy

DARCANA does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. As the app has no account system and stores no personal data, there is no personal information to collect from any user regardless of age.

Your data protection rights

Under UK data protection law, you have rights over any personal data we hold about you. Because DARCANA does not collect personal data beyond preferences stored locally on your own device, most of these rights are already exercised by you directly — for example, you can view, change, or remove your display preferences at any time within the app, or remove them entirely by uninstalling it.

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's functionality changes — for example, if a future version adds features that involve collecting different information.
